Midsummer’s Eve 21st June

Midsummer (21-23 june) is one of Sweden’s biggest holidays and most cherished traditions. The summer solstice is celebrated with family and friends. Visitors can experience a traditional Midsummer’s Eve at the Skansen Open-air Museum but there are also celebrations with dancing and music in Stockholm’s major parks, for example Vasaparken and Tantolunden.
Many Stockholmers leave the city to visit the archipelago or countryside homes to meet friends and families, eat pickled herring and new potatoes washed down with schnapps and beer. As this is a major holiday, many stores, restaurants and attractions are closed or close early. Stockholm Guesthouse still have available holiday homes such as apartments and bed & breakfast accommodations.
